§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many prosecutions there have been in the last 12 months in the Metropolitan Police for misuse of information stored on the police national computer; and how many of them have involved police officers or employees of the Metropolitan Police;
(2) if it is his policy to prosecute in every case of use of the police national computer for other than police purposes; and how many prosecutions there have been in England and Wales in the last 12 months.
§ Mr. MayhewSuch prosecutions are matters for chief officers of police. Details of the circumstances of offences, including whether or not the police national computer was involved, are not collected centrally.
