§ Mr. Giles ShawMy right hon. Friend has written to Tameside Metropolitan borough council saying that he has been unable to give them programme authority status. My right hon. Friend reviewed the list of authorities designated under the Inner Urban Areas Act a year ago and 137W told the House that no changes would be made at that time. The classification of authorities is kept under review as circumstances change. The 1981 census data will help to show how things have changed since 1978.
