§ Mr. WhitelawThe Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis and other chief officers have constantly under review their operational response to crime, including violent street crime. My officials, in consultation with Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary, are studying tactics in different force areas in order to disseminate knowledge of the most effective tactics to deal with street crime.
