Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will name the local authorities which have sold land to developers to build low-cost homes since 1979.

Mr. Stanley

The available information, which is for April 1980 to December 1981, shows that 159 English local authorities reported sales of land for housing purposes. Comprehensive information is not collected on the type of dwellings to be built or the type of intended purchasers.
