Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many (a) women and (b) men who head one-parent families are entitled to one-parent supplementary allowances and how many of each sex take-up their entitlement.

Lord Elton

At December 1980, the latest date for which information is available, there were approximately 100,000 men and 700,000 women, heading one-parent families, who were entitled to one-parent benefit. About 57,000 men and 380,000 women were receiving one-parent benefit.
