§ Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will cause inquiries to be made into the allegations of the dumping of waste products at or about the end of February 1982 or the first days of March 1982, by or on behalf of, the London Clinic or doctors working there, on ordinary waste dumps; and if he will publish the result of those inquiries.
§ Mr. Giles ShawMy Department is aware of recent reports about the alleged disposal of clinical waste from a laboratory in London—not the London Clinic—and has been in touch with the waste disposal authority, the GLC, which is investigating the incident. The management of waste is a local authority responsibility, but I am concerned at these matters and I have asked the Department to discuss the local authority's findings with me. I shall write to the hon. and learned Member in due course.
