§ Mr. Staintonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science to what extent the Suffolk county council's "Greenfield Strategy" in relation to the closure of smaller village schools has been made known to his Department; and whether these policies are unique to Suffolk.
§ Dr. BoysonI understand that Suffolk's strategy is to examine the whole of the county's school provision, in particular the educational and financial implications of retaining small primary schools and the standards of school premises, with a view to concentrating school provision in some areas in modern or remodelled buildings. Similar strategies have been adopted by some other local education authorities.
