§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will consider revising the machinery under the Race Relations Act which gives a company a full right of appeal against a finding of discrimination by the Commission for Racial Equality; and if he is satisfied with the present procedure.
§ Mr. RaisonI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal that appeals against non-discrimination notices served by the Commission for Racial Equality can relate to all the commission's findings of fact. I understand that the commission is considering whether to appeal to the House of Lords against this decision. If the commission were to submit proposals for amending the relevant provisions of the Race Relations Act 1976 my right hon. Friend would naturally give them careful consideration.
