HC Deb 03 March 1982 vol 19 cc176-7W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the decision to examine the possible re-establishment of the Children's Council in England and Wales, and in view of concern about standards of social work provision in Scotland, he will re-establish the Scottish Advisory Council on Social Work with a special training mandate to encourage specialist post-qualification in-service training schemes for social workers in the areas of child care and mental health which would be linked to well supervised practical work.

Mr. Allan Stewart

No. The Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work already has statutory responsibility for the promotion of education and training in all aspects of social work.
