§ Mr. Kinnockasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many children resident in the London borough of Kingston-upon-Thames have taken up 154W places under the assisted places scheme at the ages of 11-plus years, 12-plus years and 13-plus years since the inception of the scheme.
§ Sir Keith JosephInformation on the place of residence of assisted pupils is not collected by the Department. The only Kingston school offering assisted places is the Kingston grammar school. In January 1982 it had 27 assisted pupils. It is improbable that all these will be children from the borough. At the same time, it is unlikely that no Kingston child has taken up an assisted place in another school.
