§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Employment, further to his reply of 22 February on the report of the low pay unit on the wages and conditions of grooms, he will consider setting up a wages council for grooms.
§ Mr. AlisonThe low pay unit recommended that the riding industry itself should examine the rates of pay and terms and conditions of employment of grooms, and consider what action might be taken. It would not be appropriate for any steps to be taken by the Government before the industry has had the opportunity to do this.
