§ Mr. Neil MartenThe Government welcome the Court of Auditors report. The United Kingdom has long recognised weaknesses in European development fund programmes and has worked actively to improve them. However, these criticisms should not obscure the fact that the court has expressed satisfaction with many EDF projects. Formally, it is for the Commission to respond to the observations of the court but a number of specific points are already being pursued with the Commission.
