HL Deb 30 June 1982 vol 432 c322WA
Lord Melchett

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Nature Conservancy Council has advised the Western Isles Islands Council and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland which areas in the Western Isles qualify for special conservation measures in order to safeguard the habitats of species listed on Annex 1 of Directive 79/409/EEC and of migratory species.

The Earl of Avon

Her Majesty's Government are considering, in consultation with the Nature Conservancy Council, which sites should be identified as those to which special conservation measures are applicable under the directive. When a decision has been reached the Western Isles Islands Council will be informed of any such sites within their area.
