HC Deb 29 June 1982 vol 26 c260W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what he estimates will be the revised United Kingdom coal production figures for the years 1985, 1990, 1995 and 2000, respectively.

Mr. John Moore

Any estimate of coal output made for several years ahead is subject to great uncertainty because it depends on a great number of factors. It must take into account the likely level of coal demand together with the level of coal costs and prices, both in the United Kingdom and overseas.

As I have already indicated to the House I shall shortly be publishing a revised set of energy projections, and these considerations will form an integral part of the analysis.
