HC Deb 25 June 1982 vol 26 c186W
Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what public money has been spent in connection with the former hangars at the old Royal Air Force airfield at Pollington, near Goole, during the past three years; and for what purpose.

Sir George Young

Expenditure on the three hangar buildings has been as follows:

Year £
1979–80 56,543
1980–81 13,746
1981–82 3,303

The principal items included in this expenditure were on building low block walls and other measures necessary to seal the buildings against the ingress of vermin and birds so as to protect very valuable foodstuffs stored in them.

A major programme of recladding is currently being undertaken on one hangar at an estimated cost of £145.000 in 1982–83.
