Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the fact that Mr. Fred Hill, a 73-year-old man, on 18 June received his twenty-fifth prison sentence for failing to pay a £40 fine, if he will calculate the total costs of keeping this man in prison on these occasions, stating in each case the offences for which he was imprisoned.
