§ Mr. Giles ShawLocal environmental protection societies already have my right hon. Friend's full support. A measure of financial assistance is provided by the 135W Department for preserving buildings and by the Nature Conservancy Council for nature conservation. The Department also funds 75 per cent. of the assistance given by local authorities under the urban programme to local voluntary groups working to improve the environment.
