asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the cost of raising the maternity grant to (a) £50, (b) £75 and (c) £100.

Mr. Rossi

The additional cost in a full year would be

  1. (a) £19 million;
  2. (b) £38 million; and
  3. (c) £57 million.
