§ Sir Keith JosephI have received the reports of both arbitral bodies. The former recommends an increase as from 1 April 1982 of 6 per cent. in salaries and allowances, other than social priority schools and London allowances, for primary and secondary school teachers. The latter recommends the following London allowances, to apply from 1 April 1981:
I have set in hand the steps necessary to give effect to these recommendations in accordance with sections 2 and 4(1) of the Remuneration of Teachers Act 1965.
