HC Deb 17 June 1982 vol 25 c348W
Sir Victor Goodhew

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the meeting of the European Community Finance Council in Luxembourg on 14 June.

Sir Geoffrey Howe

I represented the United Kingdom at this Council. The main item discussed was the Community position in the OECD export credit consensus negotiations. A package of modifications to the consensus chairman's compromise proposals was agreed, and is being put to other consensus participants by the Commission.

The Council continued its discussions of the non-life insurance services directive, and also began discussions on the 7th company law directive. In preparation for the European Council later this month, the Council discussed the economic and social situation and a Commission paper on investment.
