§ Mr. Peter MorrisonWorkington jobcentre placed 177 people—93 males and 84 females—in the five week period ending 7 May 1982, the latest for which statistics are available.
There is likely to have been a substantial number of people who found jobs in the area other than through the jobcentre. Nationally the Manpower Services Commission estimates that about a quarter of all engagements are made through their offices.
