§ Mr. NewtonThe estimates that are readily available relate to Great Britain. There were about 6,300,000 two-parent families in Great Britain at the end of 1979.
On the basis of information collected in the 1979 general household survey, both parents were working in 51 per cent. of two-parent families and only one of the parents was working in a further 45 per cent.
