§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he has completed his consideration of what action to take, in accordance with section 47 of the Race Relations Act 1976, concerning the draft code of practice for the introduction of positive discrimination in employment submitted to him by the Commission for Racial Equality on 21 December 1981; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. AlisonOn 27 May 1982, my right hon. Friend received the report of the Select Committee on44W Employment on the Commission for Racial Equality's draft code of practice aimed at eliminating racial discrimination and promoting equal opportunity in employment, published as HC 273.
My right hon. Friend had previously welcomed the Committee's wish to examine the draft code and he will now consider the views presented in the Committee's report before making a decision under section 47 of the Race Relations Act 1976.
