HC Deb 08 June 1982 vol 25 c59W
Mrs. Dunwoody

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will list the major issues that will be covered by the new ministerial reviews of the Health Service.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The issues covered in each review will be those of major current concern in the region under review. These will relate to the implementation of particular aspects of regional or national policies or plans, and to the effectiveness with which resources are used or controlled. Review meetings have taken place with four regional health authorities so far this year, the first two on a "dry run" basis. I am placing in the Library copies of letters from my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State, the hon. Member for Hampstead (Mr. Finsberg) to the chairman of the Mersey and Trent regional health authorities that record the issues discussed at the review meetings held with those authorities this year, and the action agreed.

I shall arrange for the letters sent to the Oxford and south-western regional health authorities following the review meetings held with them earlier this month to be placed in the Library when they are available.
