asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many young people are currently engaged on youth opportunities programme programmes in (a) Merseyside and (b) in the Sefton district; and how many of those young people are on (i) work experience programmes and (ii) community industry or community service schemes.

Community industry is administered separately. On 13 May 1982 there were 873 young employees in community industry places in Merseyside, 90 of whom were based at the unit in Sefton.
