§ Mr. Barry Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales what have been the conclusions of his Department's research into the measurement of performance in English language, mathematics and science in the schools of Wales.
§ Mr. Michael RobertsThe results of the research into the performance of pupils in the schools of Wales carried out under the auspices of the assessment of performance unit are published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office as the work on each survey is completed. Copies of APU reports are placed in the Library on publication.
§ Mr. Barry Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) when he proposes to publish the findings of the research project conducted by the University College of Cardiff, Department of Social Administration, into the influence of schools upon pupils' attitudes to learning; and if he will make a statement;
(2) when he proposes to publish the findings of the research projects initiated by his Department in 1978 into behaviour problems including truancy and associated learning difficulties and directed by Professor Davie of the University College, Cardiff; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Michael RobertsMy right hon. Friend expects to receive the reports on these studies in the autumn. A decision on publication will be taken then.
