§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he intends to introduce proposals for legislation to restrict the use of the title "chiropodist" to professionally-qualified persons;
(2) if he intends to submit proposals to the House for the closure of the profession of chiropody in the light of his consultative document on proposals for statutory protection of professional title under the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960 and closure of the speech therapy profession;
(3) if he intends to bring forward legislation in the light of the comments received on the consultative document on protection of professional title under the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960 and closure of the speech therapy profession;
(4) what conclusion he has reached on the desirability of either indicative or functional closure for the profession of chiropody in the light of comments received on the consultative document on proposals for statutory 849W protection of professional title under the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960 and closure of the speech therapy profession;
(5) how many representations he has received on the consultative document on proposals for statutory protection of professional title under the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960 and closure of the speech therapy profession; and if he will make a statment;
(6) what proportion of the representations which he received on the consultative document on professional protection of title under the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960 and closure of the speech therapy profession were in favour of the proposals; and if he will make a statement.
