HC Deb 30 July 1982 vol 28 c822W
Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the Minister for Local Government and Environmental Services will seek to visit Israel in the next 12 months, leading a mission of the British water industries group, to develop contacts and markets for British technology, equipment and expertise in water supply and treatment; and whether he will give reasons for his decision in this matter.

Mr. King

I have asked the British water industries group to prepare a short list of countries appropriate for my next mission, probably to be undertaken later this year. As on my previous missions, my purpose will be to promote the British water industry and my decision will be based on the country or countries that offer the best prospects for British skills and technology.

Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether the Minister for Housing and Construction will seek to visit Israel in the next 12 months, accompanied by senior representatives of major construction contractors, consultant engineers and a merchant bank, to discuss the opportunities for participation by the British construction industry in local construction projects; and whether he will give reasons for his decision in this matter.

Mr. Stanley

I have no plans to lead a construction industry mission to Israel in the next 12 months as there are more substantial opportunities for British construction firms in other overseas countries.
