HC Deb 30 July 1982 vol 28 c784W
Mr. Latham

asked the Minister for Trade whether he will seek to visit Israel accompanied by representatives of British industries in the next 12 months to promote the interests of British exporters and to discuss questions of bilateral commercial relations; and whether he will give reasons for his decision in this matter.

Mr. Peter Rees

I have at present no plans for a visit in the next 12 months. The Under-Secretary of State for Trade visited Israel in June 1980 and my predecessor, accompanied by British business men, also visited Israel in October that year.

In addition, in November 1981 the United Kingdom/Israel joint committee, comprising official representatives from both sides, met in Israel for discussions of matters relating to trade between the two countries. The date of its next meeting, possibly next year in the United Kingdom, has yet to be agreed.
