HC Deb 30 July 1982 vol 28 cc858-9W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the Official Report the advice of the chief insurance officer on eligibility of community service volunteers for invalid care allowance; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Rossi

I understand that in certain such cases referred to him, the chief insurance officer has drawn attention to the published Commissioner's decisions R(P)3/52, R(P)1/65 and R(P)4/68 and has suggested that these point to the conclusion that the volunteers concerned were gainfully employed and receiving payment in excess of £6 a week, which is the current earnings limit for invalid care allowance. It is, of course, open to any claimant who is dissatisfied with the insurance officer's decision to appeal to the local tribunal.
