HC Deb 28 July 1982 vol 28 c568W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if his Department is sponsoring research work into the isolation and molecular identification of tribulin and any related research into its action.

Sir Keith Joseph

I understand that tribulin is one of a number of substances endogenous to mammals, which may prove relevant to the management of anxiety states. A group of research workers at the Queen Charlotte maternity hospital, London are conducting research into the compound. Two Medical Research Council units and a member of the council's external scientific staff are engaged in directly related research and the council is also providing project grant support for relevant studies. Last year a meeting of experts in this area was held under the auspices of the MRC to review the present position and consider the need for and feasibility of further studies.
