HC Deb 28 July 1982 vol 28 c585W
Mr. Home Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the estimated cost of the Tranent and Musselburgh bypasses; and approximately how many jobs will be created and for what length of time by these projects.

Mr. Allan Stewart

The combined cost is estimated at about £20 million at November 1981 prices. Construction in two overlapping phases is expected to take about three years, but I cannot estimate the number of jobs likely to be created. This will depend on the management decisions of the contractors.
