23. Mr. Adams

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, pursuant to his reply to the hon. Member for Paisley, Official Report, 30 June, c. 344, why he will not consider legislation requiring the consideration of Scottish legislation by the Scottish Grand Committee sitting in Scotland.

Mr. Younger

Legislation would be inappropriate for this purpose, which would, in any event, go substantially beyond the provisions for consideration of Scottish business by the Committee sitting in Edinburgh as approved in terms of the House's Sessional order of 5 November 1981.
