HC Deb 28 July 1982 vol 28 c564W
Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) when he expects there will be a final decision on the proposal to close Oakland school, Middlesbrough;

(2) how many people who have made representations about the closure of Oakland school, Middlesbrough, are in favour of the plans put forward by Cleveland county council; and how many are opposed;

(3) what representations he has received concerning the proposed closure of Oakland school, Middlesbrough.

Dr. Boyson

Copies of eight letters and a report by the Oakland School Association, all of which express opposition to this proposal, have been forwarded direct to my Department. Cleveland county council has until 5 August to transmit statutory objections, together with its observations on the objections, to the Secretary of State. My right hon. Friend will then reach a decision on the proposal as quickly as a proper consideration of the issues involved allows.
