§ Mr. Eggarasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether a management information and accounting system is in use in his Department; whether the information adduced is received and analysed at ministerial level; whether it is publicly available; and whether any changes are proposed in the coming year.
§ Mr. NewtonThe Department has a management information and accounting system which reflects the range of business which it handles. Ministers receive reports and analyses derived from that system. Information is made available to Parliament—notably the Select Committee on Social Services—as requested or where publication seems appropriate. Continuing development of the system will include the first phase of a new budgetary control system for the Department's administrative expenditure, which will complement the existing system of manpower budgets.
