asked the Secretary of State for Social services what salary will be paid to Dr. David Player on becoming chairman of the Health Education Council

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

When he takes up his appointment as director-general of the Health Education Council on 1 November, Dr. David Player's annual salary in that post will be £27,196.
