§ Mr. Dudley Smithasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether Her Majesty's Government propose to take any steps on recommendation No. R (82) 1 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to member States concerning international co-operation in the prosecution and punishment of acts of terrorism.
§ Mr. HurdThe United Kingdom takes a firm stand against terrorism of all kinds and supports international action to prevent it. Her Majesty's Government welcome the work undertaken by the Council of Europe. We joined in preparing recommendation R (82) 1. Our procedures in the United Kingdom for dealing with requests for evidence and information, and facilities under the Extradition Act 1873 and the Suppression of Terrorism Act 1978, satisfy that recommendation.
