§ Mr. John Fraserasked the Minister for Trade if he will introduce use and construction regulations for microlight aircraft.
§ Dr. VaughanThe Civil Aviation Authority is responsible for controlling the operation and airworthiness of microlight aircraft. This type of aircraft is subject to the provisions of the Air Navigation Order 1980, but temporary exemptions from certain requirements have been issued by the authority while approprate forms of control are being considered. Aircraft registration requirements have now been introduced, pilot licensing requirements will be effective from 1 September 1982 and airworthiness standards will be applied as soon as possible thereafter.
