Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Prime Minister if she is satisfied with the administrative co-ordination between the Department of Education and Science and the Department of Employment in efforts to improve opportunities for school leavers.
§ The Prime MinisterThe Secretary of State for Employment announced on 21 June the Government's plans for a new youth training scheme, to start in September 1983, which will substantially improve opportunities for school leavers in terms of both quality and quantity. I am satisfied that the machinery proposed110W Orders in Council to give effect to new constituencies consequential upon the reports of the Boundary Commissioners.
§ The Prime MinisterAs my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department has said, he and my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Northern Ireland intend to present Orders in Council giving effect to the new constituencies as soon as possible after the reports of the Boundary Commissions are received. The English, Scottish and Welsh Commissions hope to complete their reviews by the end of 1982 and to submit their reports as soon as practicable thereafter. The Northern Ireland Commission is likely to submit its report during the summer.
