HC Deb 19 July 1982 vol 28 c31W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many persons, both male and female, were placed in employment by the Workington jobcentre in the last month for which statistics are available.

Mr. Alison

Workington jobcentre placed 155 people—100 males and 55 females—in the four-week period ending 4 June 1982, the latest for which statistics are available.

There is likely to have been a substantial number of people who found jobs in the area other than through the jobcentre. Nationally, the Manpower Services Commission estimates that about a quarter of all engagements are made through their offices.
