§ Mr. AlisonWorkington jobcentre placed 155 people—100 males and 55 females—in the four-week period ending 4 June 1982, the latest for which statistics are available.
There is likely to have been a substantial number of people who found jobs in the area other than through the jobcentre. Nationally, the Manpower Services Commission estimates that about a quarter of all engagements are made through their offices.
