§ The Prime MinisterThe Home Secretary is directly responsible for the Security Service. Relations between the Security Service and Ministers are governed by the directive given to the director general of the Security Service by the then Home Secretary, Sir David Maxwell Fyfe in 1952. I see no reason to alter the lines of responsibility or change the principles contained in this directive.
