§ Mr. WigginIn the three years from 1 July 1979 to 30 June 1982 members of the Regular Army in Northern Ireland have been fired at on 393 occasions. They have returned fire on 123 occasions. Three terrorists have been killed and seven wounded in exchanges of fire. There is evidence of further, but unconfirmed, terrorist casualties in such exchanges.

§ Mr. WigginIn the three years 1 July 1979 to 30 June 1982 members of the Ulster Defence Regiment have been fired at on 83 occasions. They have returned fire 16 times. One terrorist was confirmed wounded and another is thought to have been wounded.
