§ Mr. Adleyasked the Prime Minister whether she is now in a position to make a further statement about the decision to institute a special commemorative medal to mark the services of the Armed Forces, the Merchant Navy and associated personnel who took part in the defence and repossession of the Falkland Islands and their dependencies.
§ The Prime MinisterYes. As I told my hon. Friend on 8 July 1982, The Queen has approved the recommendation that a medal, to be known as the South Atlantic Medal, should be instituted to mark service in the South Atlantic. The terms and conditions of the medal are set out in a Command Paper, Cmnd 8601, which is being laid before the House today.
