§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether, in the light of the current investigation in the European Assembly as to irregularities concerning expense claims involving British Members he will introduce legislation to give Her Majesty's Government the power to intervene in such cases.
§ Mr. HurdNo. It is for the European Parliament itself to deal with irregularities concerning its own Members. The President of the Parliament has said that he intends to correct any irregularities which have been identified. I am not aware of any irregularities concerning Members of this House.
