Mr. Flanneryasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what information is available to his Department that would enable an assessment to be made of the effect upon agricultural production, both in the long and short terms, of the removal of trees, hedgerows and hedges which has been carried out in the countryside in recent years.
§ Mrs. FennerFarmers do not have to notify or obtain the consent of my Ministry to remove hedgerows, so we have no basis on which to make this assessment.
