§ 36. Mr. Thomas Coxasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the present position of the intercommunal talks on Cyprus.
§ Mr. HurdSince the tabling of the United Nations Secretary-General's evaluation last November there have been frequent meetings, and some progress, in the intercommunal talks. We understand that, at a meeting on 25 May, the Secretary-General's representative introduced discussion of the organs of a possible future federal Government. In separate meetings with Senor Perez de Cuellar on 8 and 9 June President Kyprianou and Mr. Denktash both reaffirmed their commitment to the talks.
