Mr. Iain Mills

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to provide for minor traffic offences to be heard in the court nearest to the accused's home, and for such legislation to extend to England, Scotland and Wales.

Mr. Mayhew

We have no plan to introduce such legislation for England and Wales. Questions about the jurisdiction of courts in Scotland are for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland.
