§ Mr. Campbell-Savoursasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will seek to obtain, through the Middle East initiative taken by the 10 member States of the European Economic Community, assurances that the relevant Geneva conventions will be applied to prisoners in Ramallah prison and other prisons on the Israeli-occupied west bank of the Jordan, on the same basis as the assurances sought by the Belgian Presidency in respect of prisoners in Israeli-occupied Lebanon.
§ Mr. HurdThe Israeli Government are well aware of the Ten's view that Israeli should apply the relevant Geneva conventions in all the territories she occupies. We are not at present considering action by the Ten concerning Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons on the West Bank.
