HC Deb 06 July 1982 vol 27 cc97-8W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the gross estimated cost of the London enterprise zone for 1982-83 together with the estimated cost of infrastructure, rate relief, and revenue forgone by the Exchequer and other statutory authorities.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The London Docklands Development Corporation has programmed expenditure amounting to £4.475 million in 1982-83 on infrastructure in or serving the enterprise zone. The cost of rate relief cannot be precisely forecast since it will depend on the type and extent of development attracted to the zone. It is estimated, however, that the rate relief for the area in the first half of the financial year will amount to some £456,000. No information is available on the cost of other revenue forgone.
