§ Mr. MacfarlaneI consider that there are still advantages to local authorities in being designated under 97W section 12 of the Caravan Sites Act 1968. The Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 enhanced these powers and there are presently no plans for further change.

§ Mr. MacfarlaneIn 1981 the areas of six local authorities were designated. This brings the number of areas so designated to 40, of which two are of county councils.
